The Passionate Love of Christ (1 Peter 3.18)
The writers of the New Testament present the sufferings of Jesus (His passion) as punishment for sin, vicarious in nature, and full satisfying to the Father (propitiation). That ought to stir love in our hearts for Christ. We cannot win the love of God; Jesus won it for us. We would not enjoy the presence of God if Jesus didn’t suffer His absence at the cross. Jesus didn’t merely save us from Hell; He saved us to Heaven. Be grateful, endure hardship, and reach people who inexcusably reject His love!
